Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936 – Emblem

Designer: Fritz Uhlich

On 27 June 1935, a meeting of the propaganda committee of the Organising Committee took place in Berlin. There, the emblem and the official festival badge were presented and approved. The emblem of the Games was designed by the Partenkirchen painter Fritz Uhlich. In the centre is the Alpspitze mountain with the typical silhouette of the summit. A ski or sledge track leads down the slope, the Olympic rings are depicted in front of it. The motif is surrounded by a circle in which the edition of the Games, the venue and the year are written. There were several variants of this emblem and multicoloured or monochrome versions.
